Introduction
Yes. Lord Muruga was worshipped by the people all over the world during ancient times. Before the introduction of the religions like Christianity, Buddhism and Islamism, Lord Muruga was popularly worshipped even by the foreigners but with a different name. As per the ancient historical records, even the ancient Greek King, Alexander the great, had worshipped Lord Muruga in the form of Lord Apollo. He has also ordered his counterparts and the people in his kingdom to worship Lord Muruga, and Lord Muruga was worshipped in the name of Lord Apollo, the god of archery, fertility, wisdom, knowledge, health, wealth and bravery. Apart from the Greek people, Apollo was worshipped by most of the ancient people in the world.
Lord Apollo can be seen holding a bow and an arrow, and he is depicted in the form of killing the Devil, and likewise, while waging a war with the demon Surapadman, Lord Muruga carried a bow and an arrow along with his famous weapon Spear, also popularly called as “VEL”, in Tamil. Ancient Greeks worshipped Lord Apollo as the son of the god, and likewise Lord Murugan is the son of Lord Shiva. In ancient Greek text, the word Apollo was mentioned several times, and similarly, the word Muruga was mentioned several times in our Holy Vedas.
Still some true Christians used to worship Lord Apollo also along with Lord Jesus Christ, by considering him to be the forefather of Jesus Christ. Ancient Greek texts, mention Lord Apollo as the person who carries various weapons in his hands, and rides on a divine bird (Peacock) in order to put an end for the devil. There was also a popular Mantra recited by the ancient Greeks which resembles similar to that of our Holy Skanda Shasti Kavacham.
But all these things are hidden from the eyes of the present day people, since most of the foreigners only have belief with the religions like Islamism and Christianity, and at any point of time they would never disclose these types of hidden secrets before the world.
I have written this article, only after making a careful and thorough study about ancient history of Greeks, about ancient Greek god Apollo, and about his significance during ancient times.
But, still some people describe out wonderful god Muruga as a fictitious god, and they also questions that what Muruga has done for our society!
They should remember that Lord Muruga dwells on each and every soul, and without his presence in the world, nothing would occur!
